Kereru Creative is located in the historic Homedale Village, Wainuiomata.
Founded in November 2018 by Denise Anglesey & Gaylene Pluck, the shop has quickly become popular with locals and visitors as a unique shopping experience. Read how we got started here.
The shop is somewhat diverse in nature acting as a gallery for local artists, a gift shop shocking quality locally produced and NZ made products, a boutique for Denise's up-cycled clothing range and the varied array of subjects covered by the in-house workshops.
Workshops undertaken so far include Sewing Classes, making Beeswax Wraps, Cheese Making, Lemon Curd & Old Fashioned Lemonade. Gaylene, who is an occupational health therapist by trade also runs weekly arts and crafts sessions each Wednesday morning to teach basic skills on a variety of subjects.
Denise and Gaylene also operate a circular waste fashion economy in conjunction with the local Koha Shed. Waste fashion items are saved from ending up as rags by washing, mending, redistributing clothing and reusing fabrics. Most of Denise's range such as "Skirts with a Story" and "Recycled T Beanie Hats" are made from reused t-shirts unfit for resale.
